Fantasy Baseball Focus - 8/11/08

In what has been an almost too-good-to-be-true season for the Tampa Bay Rays, the dream season is showing signs of fraying. Carl Crawford was put on the DL a few days back, and nbow it looks like Evan Longoria, the leading AL Rookie of the Year Candidate will now be joining him. Luckily, the Ray may have a few cards to play up their sleeves. Shortly, the team should be adding both Rocco Baldelli's bat, as well as the prized arm of gifted minor league pitcher, David Price. Now may be a good time to add both players as they could end up playing critical roles down the stretch. Baldelli could produce useful power, runs, and RBIs, while Price may be utilized as a super set-up man, akin to the role Joba Chamberlein played for the Yanks last year.

In an unrelated story, it looks like Huston Street's closing days may be over for the A's this year. His recent disastrous run, coupled with the brilliance of rookie reliever Brad Ziegler (37 shutout innings to begin his career) means it is time to change things up. if Ziegler is available on your free agent list, he'd be a prime closer candidate to target.
